Skardu Valley

In the extreme north of Pakistan, Skardu the central valley of Gilgit-Baltistan, is an epitome of beauty, serenity and wilderness. Paths to some of the world’s highest mountains that includes K2, K3, and Gasherbrum; all are connected through this valley. These towering mountains attract thousands of climbers from all over the world each year; some have even lost their lives in efforts to summit these steep climbs. Just on a 30 minutes drive from Skardu city is Kachura valley, where Kachura Lake’s crystal clear water is surrounded by old dramatic trees. Skardu valley also have forts like Kharpocho Fort built by Ali Sher Anchan and is 600 years old. The sand dunes in Katpana village, also known as cold desert, are a wonder in itself. Strong winds shift the dunes as quickly as nomads. At this high altitude and cold region, this desert holds strange attraction. The famous Deosai plains is just 2hours drive from Skardu valley. The trip to skardu mesmerizes the tourists on just another level as the districts adjacent to skardu like Khaplu, Shiger and Kharmang are natural marvels in themselves filled with waterfalls, lakes, forts of ancient local rajas, lush green pastures, pine forests and snow covered mountain peaks. The overall experience is diverse in nature that from cold desert to snow-capped mountains and from lakes to deosia plain known as roof of the world, the valley is full of surprises.
